Excel's Flash Fill feature is a powerful tool that allows you to quickly fill in a range of cells with data that follows a pattern.
Here's how to use it:
Start by entering a few examples of the data you want to fill in the cells.
Select the cell where you want to start the fill, then click the "Flash Fill" button on the "Data" tab of the ribbon.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + E" to trigger the Flash Fill.
Excel will automatically fill in the rest of the cells with data that follows the pattern you
entered.
A 'Flash Fill Options' button will
appear in the adjacent column.
If Excel is unable to fill the cells correctly, you can click the "Flash Fill Options" button to choose the correct pattern.
If you need to make changes to the data that was filled in, you can do so by editing the cells directly. Flash Fill does not overwrite the original data, so your changes will not affect the pattern used to fill the cells.
You now have your data auto-populated using Flash Fill.
What is very impressive is Excel was able to apply the same format pattern to the rest of the table without the use of a single formula!
How easy is that!?
